14th Annual La Jolla Concours d’Elegance

 

The 14th Annual La Jolla Concours d’Elegance took place the weekend of April 7 and indeed lived up to its reputation as one of the finest internationally renowned classic automobile showcases taking place in the United States.  The was held in beautiful La Jolla at the La Jolla Cove on perfectly manicured lawns and attracted discerning car enthusiasts from all around the globe.  La Jolla Concours d’Elegance celebrated the Lincoln as the honored marque and showcased the most exquisite automobile and motorcycle displays in the world.

The good times spread out over three days with weekend starting at the Dapper and Delight Soiree on Friday night at Covo Restaurant, themed with “a 1930s-1940s cocktail party” where guest mingled at the hosted bar by William Grant Portfolio featuring high-end luxury scotch portfolio by Balvenie, and nosh on incredible bites from Covo Restaurant of La Jolla. With flare bartenders, vintage champagne displays and a live music featuring a canary singer.  The dazzling, ritzy night was the perfect start to the charming weekend!

La Jolla Concours d’Elegance continued Saturday and into the night with exclusive Bentley Motors VIP Reception and of course, saving the most extravagant for last, with the La Jolla Concours d’Elegance on Sunday.  Showcasing over 130 vehicles, a champagne and honey tasting garden, a VIP Lounge, Hospitality Suites and 10,000 international guests.  To add to all the glitz three plane museums also flew in from The San Diego Air & Space Museum, Allen Airways Flying Museum and the Lyon Air Museum. Part of the Sunday fun was a flyover of spectatular planes sponsored by Icon Aircraft that included a B-25 Mitchell bomber, Douglas C-47/DC-3 and the B-25D “Grumpy.”

Best in the show went to: Peter Mullin, Mullin Automotive Museum - 1939 Bugatti Type 57SC Aravis Cabriolet.
